they are growing all in your mind

happy july! i'm learning to love this month, mainly because it's when summer really starts here in the pacific northwest (july is the new june) and also because it starts with a lovely long weekend, which i took full advantage of. yesterday we went on a gorgeous, looong hike in the columbia river gorge ~ my first real hike since i broke my foot in february! and i'm so happy to report that it didn't hurt my foot or ankle. whew!

i added some new rock collections in my etsy shop yesterday, including a few of my new favorites. and i did a guest post over at poppytalk about gem stones and i wanted to give a huge *thank you* to time out chicago for their shout out, as well as my love for you for the rock collection love.

hope you're having a great week!

i can't remember where i first saw this book ~ (creative walls: how to display and enjoy your treasured collections by geraldine james) but i fell in love with some of the images and wanted to share. ok honestly i wanted to put them online so i could pin them ;)

i especially love that last image of the jewelry hanging in the vintage frame. i've used vintage frames for my earrings before (you can see it here) but i love the idea of using a huge frame for necklaces too. i'll share pics if i end up doing it.

can you believe tomorrow is july?? and true to portland fashion it's overcast and cool today, and will get sunny and hot this weekend (that's right, when people say summer doesn't start here until july 4th they're sadly not kidding).

hope you're having a lovely week!

swollen orange and light let through

i couldn't say anything in my last post, but last wednesday i flew to vegas to visit my sister and her adorable little family, and to surprise my other sister who was visiting my nevada sister! i've never surprised anyone, it was so much fun. i got to spend my birthday with two of my awesome sisters (and three of my sweet nieces and nephew), swimming in the hot desert sun (108 degrees!), eating cupcakes, cuddling kittens and watching our favorite movie together. it was lovely, although i'm sooo grateful for this wet, overcast, cool portland weather. i needed a break from the heat!

now it's back to work ~ i'll be listing a bunch of smaller new rock collections this week, and i'm gathering a bunch of amazing "new" vintage stuff for the mushroom & moss vintage shop grand re-opening.

hope you're having a wonderful week!
