only today will you still keep inside what i have said, it's something new for you to forget

next week is my birthday and i had wanted to do a bunch of fun blog posts the week before but i've been without internet for the last three days, so... let's start today!

i'm a bit of a bibliophile in that i *love*love*love* collecting old books. any language, any subject, as long as it's beautiful or at the very least interesting to look at. (yes i also read books, that's what the library is for!) i want to start a regular blog post showing off favorites from my collection so without further ado:

novo diccionario portuguez - japonez
(new dictionary portuguese to japanese)

it's dated 1931 which i'm not sure i believe because it's in *amazing* shape. i love that beautiful embossed cover. i love the old tape marks on the inside. i love the amazing gold-embossed spine and of course the gorgeous antique green. and i love that i can't understand a word of it :)

stay tuned tomorrow for a little shop update. happy friday!

Finally, another person who loves to collect old books like this!!! This one is fabulous. One of my favorite finds I can think of right now is an old book from the 70s about Amsterdam. The cover [inside AND out] had amazing photos and the inside was filled with little bits of information and photos of people on bicycles. It's one of my favorites. I also love old Chinese fable books. Textile books from back in the day are pretty great too.. but all books are wonderful. ;) I love scoping the shelves at the thrift stores.

I look forward to the future posts about your collection! Love the blog. :)

I love old books to and absolutely covet my 1952 copy of the Girl Scouts Handbook. What a gorgeous find.

How interesting! I love old books, as well, and have a small collection. Browsing old bookstores is a joy when we're traveling. I had never thought about collecting in other languages...do you read any of them? (other languages, that is:))
