je veux gagner ce coeur à coeur

i need more... something in my life. i need more popsicles and sun glare. more giggles and swing sets and fireflies. more dangly earrings and flowy skirts and flowers in my hair. more paper lanterns and goofy dancing and 60's french pop. more tickling and picnics and peach juice dribbling down my chin. more dappled sunlight and curtains blowing in the breeze. more forts and twinkle lights. more paint on my hands. more pen pals. more sparklers. more bike rides. more camp fires. more fresh flowers.

my birthday is wednesday and i intend on giving myself more of all of these things. if you've been lacking too, maybe you'll join me?

happy, happy summer!!!

ps ~ for some reason comments aren't working for everyone. if it won't allow you to comment will you please drop me a note here? (or at artsy{at}corikindred{dot}com). thanks so much. i thrive on feedback! :)

I agree with you 100%. I'm living in the UK right now (in oxford), and I desperately want to be back in my Canada for summer. The UK is great, but it just lacks that fantastic summery attitude and zest for life that canadians (& americans) get in the summer. I just want a car, an open highway, a picnic basket, a kite and a nearby beach. I want fresh, beautiful open spaces. The UK is architecturally fab but I feel so claustrophobic here.
Sigh.

it rings a bell that i discovered this last year, but my bday is on wed too. bday twins!
and i totally hear you on the needing more summer. i was SO looking forward to my first ever summer birthday but i think i jinxed it for us, Cori!

I'm missing something too.. I think it is freedom to live in the small moments. Like laughing out loud, go on an impulse travel, buy a new book and read it in the park, turn around and around and around so fast you fall over in the grass.

Happy birthday!!

I'd like more of what you've listed too. It doesn't seem today will be one of those days, not here in San Francisco... Maybe tomorrow. !Happy Birthday!

hooray for summer! hope you have a very happy birthday.

So beautifully written, Cori! I need to read this post regularly to remind myself to make the joy happen. I think we're all guilty of dreaming of more simple, happy things and not actually seeking them out. Sorry I'm commenting so late - hope you had a lovely birthday and that this year will be filled with all the goodness you described.
