a girl who loves is like a precious glimpse, just like we settle in the foggy mist

when i moved to portland two years ago i was seriously concerned that living in a city with more people would mean far less good stuff to be found at the thrift stores. i forgot that more people means not only more thrift stores but *tons* more cool stuff to start with. TONS. i am seriously in heaven thrifting in this city.

the goodwills are the nicest i've ever seen (one even has a cafe!) not to mention the huge assortment of other second hand stores (value village, red white and blue, deseret industries, salvation army, etc). there are so many to choose from i can find at least a few in whatever part of the city i feel like visiting. certain things i look for: vintage fabrics (cute sheets can make lovely curtains), typewriters (make sure to look for closed cases!), polaroid or other fun old cameras, cute dishes, paper goods (mmm vintage photos), jewelry boxes, tins and of course books.

whenever i find them i also snatch up those sweet quilted glove and hanky boxes. they're just too pretty to resist (and usually just a few dollars). i'm still trying to figure out the best way to use the sectioned ones as storage... but for now they're nice eye candy (and photo backdrops, ha). you can see my entire thrifty flickr set here. also visit my vintage shop mushroom & moss to see what fun things i've found that i just don't have the space for. i'll be putting new items up this coming week, can't wait to share!

oooooh...
i am in so much trouble when i move there..
(that cake tin is ***amazing*** btw!)
xo

You find such intereting things. I always think I'd like to browse...but just don't know what I'd do with it! That is, until I've seen your photos!

Portland is a wonderful city...in a beautiful location. Happy days!

Very cute stuff! :) :)

Oh my goodness. I am MADLY in love with that 'cake' tin and the three-drawered item underneath it. If you EVER decide to part with either of those, pleeeeeease drop me a line. They're both so dddddd gorgeous!!!

I love seeing what you find at the thrift stores. Oh, how I miss thrifting!!! [There aren't any here in Nagasaki, can you believe it??] 40 days until I'm reunited and go on a thrifting rampage! :)

I love thrifting! Your post makes me consider moving to Portland. Hehe. Lovely finds and photos :)
